The CRL Youth Ministry

The CRL youth dates back to a history when 5 years ago few of us gathered and started praying to a Lord, who at that time was far from being our Saviour. Initially our youth meetings were only times of fellowship spent on interesting gossip sessions and card games. Praise the Lord, for it wasn’t too long before all of us realized the awesomeness of our God.
God in his mercy confronted us with unforeseen struggles and challenged each of us to trust in him wholly and take on a journey with him. Thus started our journey- thus began the Youth Ministry of CRL! With just 5-6 members, our youth group has now grown into an army prepared by the Lord to testify about his love to all other youth in this country.
GROWING WITH CHRIST
There is absolutely nothing that we could boast about, other than the Love of our God. There is nothing that we could hold on to as ours other than the amazing, unending love of our Saviour. If your mind is sketching a picture of a bunch of “holy”, “boring”, “extreme” boys and girls, let us humbly tell you – it hardly matters. We could only say that we are just the same as each one of you, challenged daily by the pressure of this world, falling into similar temptations and hitting rock bottom at the most unpredictable moments in life. Yet if there is one thing that we could boast about, it would undoubtedly be the armor of salvation our God has given to all of us. And yes we are Holy, because we choose to believe in the love of Jesus, Yes we may seem boring because we fear too much to be separated from the love of our father and yes we may look extreme because in our hearts is a fire ever blazing to proclaim the glory of our Go

The CRL Young Adult Ministry

As we slowly grow-out of our fun loving days of teenage life, suddenly we realize that we have been pushed into a world of adulthood. Seems like it was only weeks ago that we were still allowed to live a carefree life. Some of us take ages before we can adapt into this new status of life. while some of us our battling out this transition, there are also few of us who consider ourselves masters of the trade. We have got all the degrees and MBAs’ one could possibly have and even got a comfortable position in the corporate ladder. The truth is whether we like it or not, here we are staring at the world as ADULTS!
sometimes as much as we want to rely on ourselves, our experiences and our instincts we are clueless about how to handle most situation life throws at us. Even if we do manage it well, all the decisions we make are subjective to our experience. what if there is a greater truth out there? So are we really alone? What if we still cannot figure out what to do with ourselves?
COPING WITH ADULT LIFE
The YA ministry of CRL has take on the mission of spreading the word of God to young adults and bringing them into a journey with Christ. We dream of a world where every young adult is strengthened and guided by the love of Christ thereby becoming strong ambassadors of faith in a environment full of trouble, confusion and malpractice.
We urge you to come and join us during our weekly times of prayer and find out that you are really not alone. All the decision making and balancing between work, family and education come easy if you have Jesus by your side. Therefore join us and experience a transformed life

Hospital Ministry

FOR ME WHEN I WAS SICK YOU CARED FOR ME
The volunteers who belong to the ministry, visit patients in all hospitals in the city, especially those in the National Hospital, Colombo. The volunteers reach out to any patient who welcomes them regardless of cast or creed. Most of them come from far off places in the country. They seek comfort and consolation in their suffering and pain. The volunteers show care and concern for them and give them hope by drawing their attention to the healing power of Jesus.
When prayer requests for the sick are received at our administrative office ‘Tabor’, patient information is passed down to the volunteers, who then visit the sick and pray for them during intercessory prayer meetings
VISITING HOSPITAL
The volunteer group visits hospitals during visiting hours of 12 noon to 1.00 pm and 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm on week days (with the permission of the nurse in charge of the ward). This group also visits homes for the aged, mental hospitals, orphanages, leprosy and cancer hospitals on a monthly basis.
Some patients just need someone to listen to their problems while others want a loving hand to give them comfort. Through the volunteers many have met Christ. When the need arises, the hospital chaplains are informed, are directed to those who wish to make their confession and receive communion.

Called A-New Ministry

CALLED A NEW MINISTRY
The Called Anew Ministry seeks to support widows, widowers and single parents coping without the life partner they once had.
Many who have lost a partner to death and are now facing old age by themselves as their children are now adults. Some are childless and so do not have immediate family. They struggle daily with loneliness and lack of love.
STRENGTHENED BY THE LORD
For young single parents, bringing up children without the love and support of a partner is a significant challenge.
The Called Anew Ministry helps both these groups to focus on the strength and the love of our Lord Jesus who fills that vacant place in their heart. And when such people who share the same feelings come together and pray together- great and mighty miracles happen in their lives.
JOIN US
The called Anew meets on every first Sunday of the month at St. Anthony’s Hall, Kollupitiya from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. You are most welcome to join us.
Medical Emergency Fund
THE MEDICAL EMERGENCY FUND
The medical emergency projects ministry aims to reach out to those who need financial assistance for urgent medical problems, regardless of age, gender, caste or creed.
The Sovereign Lord has filled me with His Spirit
He has chosen me and sent me
to bring good news to the poor,
To heal the broken-hearted,
To announce the release of captives
And freedom to those in prison
He has sent me to proclaim that the time has come
When the Lord will save His people and defeat their enemies.
He has sent me to comfort all those who mourn.
To give those who mourn in Zion Joy and gladness instead of grief
A song of praise instead of sorrow.
Isaiah 61:1-3
REACHING OUT TO THOSE IN NEED
These words of the holy prophet Isaiah, foretelling the arrival of the Messiah and His love, joy, peace and hope constantly inspire us to reach out to those in need such as those who who need funds for urgent medical problems.
Some have so much to waste on frivolities, while others do not even have the means for the basics of life. Often, financial assistance can make the difference between life and death. In assisting people with medical needs, we have been able to share God’s love with them to the extent that they have been touched and transformed by the Lord, not only physically, but also spiritually….many of them being non-Christians.

Differently Abled Ministry

DIFFERENTLY ABLED MINISTRY
Just like the beautiful flowers in a garden, God’s children come in different shapes, sizes, colors and abilities. Yet, like the flowers, each one is beautiful and has his or her own special gift to offer the world. Unfortunately, the world seems to accept only those who conform to its dictates.
God has given us this wonderful opportunity to share and receive love from our differently abled brothers and sister and their care givers. We have many children with different disabilities coming to our meetings. The transformation we see in their lives and their unconditional love is nothing but a witness to how special they are to God.
JOIN US
We meet every 3rd Saturday from 9.30-11.30 am at the home of a member of our community, who is a trained teacher of differently abled children. We enjoy a time of praise, worship, sharing of a message and fellowship. All differently abled and their care givers are welcome!
Music Ministry

MUSIC MINISTRY
In Psalm 33, we are exhorted to sing new songs to the Lord, with a variety of instruments and sounds. Based on this, several singers and musicians of the community, both young and the not so young, teamed up to form the music ministry, to inspire joy, praise and worship in the hearts of the worshipers, by way of making music and singing anointed songs that touch their hearts.
The music ministry provides its services for every community event that includes a time of praise & worship. They include the prayer meetings, parish outreaches, seasonal programs, family gatherings and one-off programs. The ministry usually meets on Tuesdays for practices. Sometimes the ministry conducts weekend programs, where we get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and spend time with the Lord in order to build a deeper spirituality.
